RNG’s Employee to Scale Pamir Peaks Celebrating 80th Anniversary of Victory Day

03.04.2025

Aleksandr Menshov, 71, is an employee of RNG. He has an ambitious plan to reach Communism Peak and Peak Korzhenevskaya, two of the Pamir Mountains’ famous seven-thousanders. He also wants to commemorate the 80-year anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War by installing a copy of the Victory Banner once he reaches the top.

RNG fully supports the endeavour of its employee and the noble cause, so the company is going to sponsor the feat.
This is a climb of the highest grade, one of the most difficult climbs in the world, requiring superior climbing skills, peak physical form, and good gear. Before doing the climb, you are supposed to go to the base where you get ready and acclimatise, and you can reach it by helicopter only.

Aleksandr Menshov is an amateur athlete with a stellar track record of running (for his whole life), diving (for twenty years), and parachuting. In fact, he has done a total of 836 jumps. He has lived most of his life in the cold and harsh conditions of the north, in Russia’s Yakutia, a place that toughened him and improved his endurance greatly. Apart from that, Aleksandr has spent the last five years skiing and mountaineering. He has actually already conquered four peaks: Elbrus’s West and East summits, Kilimanjaro, and Lenin Peak (Ibn Sina Peak). There is no other way to go but forward now, to conquer new heights and peaks.

“The Pamir Mountains are known as the Roof of the World. It is one of the biggest challenges I’ve yet to face. The seven-thousanders are very demanding: to reach them, you need to be ready to give it your all, physically and mentally, not to mention use your technical skills. I dedicate this feat to our heroes—people who won the Great Patriotic War,” says Aleksandr Menshov.

RNG is always happy to support sports, patriotic, cultural, and social initiatives. Aleksandr Menshov’s expedition promotes a healthy lifestyle and celebrates the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.
