RNG values safety of its talent, striving to make sure the employees are happy and healthy, while minimising the impact on the environment. Our safety goal is zero accidents (injuries), and we are making every effort to achieve it.
Our Health, Safety & Production Control team makes it their mission to introduce new measures and technology accordingly. They are the reason why we are having 40% fewer accidents.
We endeavour to streamline our processes: we update manuals, improve our policies, and hold meetings with department heads—every month. We are all about prevention: to deter potential accidents and contain occupational diseases, we arrange for a special assessment of working conditions. We have made it a rule to do cross checks with our contractors.
At RNG, health is king. There is nothing more important than that. We send our employees for a medical to catch a disease early and prevent non-work accidents. We also try to prevent infectious diseases and monitor our employees' health, in particular, when it comes to COVID-19. There are now more first-aid stations all over the facilities, and the existing stations have been upgraded, too.
RNG promotes a healthy lifestyle across the board, making sure our employees do not abuse drugs or alcohol. Shift settlements have been taken care of, too: we built gyms to encourage physical activity. We have tightened control over the employees at airports and security desks. There is also a 24-hour security service keeping order at weekends and on public holidays.
Reducing traffic accidents and improving road safety at our facilities are our priorities, too. We introduced a GLONASS system and speed limits on in-field and public roads. Hence fewer and fewer traffic accidents with every passing year.
RNG has been developing its own risk assessment methodology, soon to be rolled out everywhere in the company. We have made sure there are special regulations in place for all departments and workshops. A dedicated team is in charge of the supervision.
We also prize fire protection, so we arrange regular trainings for our employees. There are scheduled training sessions at production locations; afterwards, we analyse the results to develop new measures with better fire prevention techniques.
2015 saw a new fire service team at RNG, comprising volunteers only, boasting required degrees. The team is partnered with the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, helping with fire response in Mirninsky District. The region suffered from fires in summer 2021. Response was an absolute must, so the company rushed to assist the local authorities and fight the act of God. RNG employees and equipment were a boon to the fire-fighting teams.
When fires are more likely to occur, teams patrol forests all day and all night to make sure fires are prevented early. The Company also purchases mobile boxes with forest firefighting equipment designed to protect leased forests.
Since 2021, the RNG fire team has been part of the Mirninsky fire guard garrison, coming out with them for fire response. The Department of Forest Relations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) thanked the RNG team for their hearty endeavours in fire response.
