RNG Releases Fry of Pelad into Yakutia’s Waters

03.07.2026

The Company is continuing to pursue artificial reproduction of aquatic bioresources. RNG ecologists have released more than 550,000 fry of pelad into the Vilyuiskoye Water Reservoir. Pelad is also called northern whitefish; it is a valuable genus of the salmon family.

RNG Group companies have been helping replenish fish stocks in Yakutia for many years. Over the past eight years, they have released more than 4.5 million whitefish fry into the Republic’s rivers and reservoirs.

The fry are bred at the Chernyshevsky Fish Hatchery for RNG. Hatchery specialists use modern technologies to create the right conditions for healthy growth.

The process is kept as close to the natural environment as possible. It takes several months for the fry to reach release size. For pelad, that means at least 2 cm in length and more than 40 mg in weight.

Specialists say pelad adapt well after release. During the first two to three months, the fish settle into their natural environment; after about three years, they reach maturity and begin to reproduce, helping the species grow in number.

RNG helps stock Yakutia’s waterways with fry every year, contributing to the recovery of aquatic resources and the preservation of the region’s ecological balance.
