The Native Language and Writing Decade in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has officially opened in Yakutsk. In 2026, the programme forms part of the nationwide Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia and the Year of Culture in Yakutia.
Representatives from the company’s Yakutsk office attended the opening ceremony at the D.K. Sivtsev–Suorun Omolloon State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), one of the region’s leading cultural venues.
More than 20 major cultural events are scheduled across the republic between 12 and 21 February. As part of the programme, RNG specialists will also take part in the educational initiative “Sakhаlyy Dyktаan” (“Yakut Dictation”), a public campaign designed to promote and preserve the Yakut language.
RNG consistently supports cultural and artistic initiatives throughout the republic and actively contributes to projects aimed at preserving the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
Native Language and Writing Day of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is observed annually on 13 February. Established in 1996, the date marks the birthday of Semyon Novgorodov, the first Yakut linguist and author of the earliest textbooks written in the Yakut language.
