The winners of this year’s RNG-funded educational awards have now been announced, with 100 teachers from across the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) selected for special recognition. Now in its fifth year, the awards have become a well-established part of the region’s education calendar. RNG launched the initiative and continues to fund it as general sponsor, supporting teachers whose work is helping shape the future of education in Yakutia.
The competition is organised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) together with the Trust Fund for Future Generations of Yakutia.
The award attracts more and more Yakutian educators every year: this year saw a record 478 applications. Of those, 367 came from teachers working in municipal education, while 111 were submitted by applicants from public and private institutions.
To be eligible, a teacher was supposed to have at least three years of educational experience in primary, elementary, middle, or high schools, or shine in further or vocational education. There was a broad set of criteria: the award recognised a teacher who had gone above and beyond when it came to student achievements, their successful participation in academic competitions, extracurriculars, and special projects, and the teacher’s professional accomplishments.
The selection committee picked 100 best educators of Yakutia. The ceremony will take place in the assembly hall of the House of the Government, Yakutsk, on 24 April at 10:00 AM, and the winners will officially receive their cash prize of 100 thousand roubles.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) said the competition is playing an important role in strengthening the republic’s teaching workforce. It also gives deserved recognition to educators whose contribution to the development of the education system has earned public respect.
