The company is the mind behind the award and its long-standing General Partner. For many years, it has been collaborating with the Trust Fund for Future Generations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to give out bonuses to the best teachers.
To be eligible, a teacher must have at least 3 years of educational experience in primary, elementary, middle, or high schools, or shine in further or vocational education.
This year, 390 teachers from 36 districts of Yakutia have applied for the award.
The applicants are judged on a rigorous set of criteria developed by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Sakha. The award recognises a teacher who has gone above and beyond when it comes to student achievements, personal accomplishments, and modern teaching methods used in their classroom. Every category now has additional qualifying criteria that eliminate certain biases and make the judgement more reliable.
The selection committee has already picked the 100 best teachers of Yakutia. The ceremony will take place on Russia Day in June, and the winners will officially receive their cash prizes of 100 thousand roubles.
This is an annual tradition dating back to 2022, when Yakutia hosted the award to commemorate its unofficial 100th anniversary, i.e., a hundred years since the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was established. The event was so successful that the tradition stayed on and is still going strong.
“The RNG Initiative goal is to enhance the prestige of the teacher’s profession and to acknowledge teachers’ contribution to the education in the republic. It is important that the competition is open for teachers from different institutions, which will promote integration of the region’s educational community,” says Aysen Nikolayev, the Head of Yakutia.
