It is the second time that RNG has sponsored the event, committed to supporting Russia’s chess endeavours.
The National Art Museum graciously hosted the intellectual competition from 22 January to 1 February, welcoming 58 players, including six chess grandmasters. All in all, players represented a whopping eleven regions of Russia.
This was a get-together for all things chess, and fans were delighted to try their hand at chess workshops and watch and participate in simultaneous exhibitions. Coaches from nearby districts could attend upskilling training, and there were even special seminars held for judges.
“I’m sure these events will foster love for chess in Yakutia and make it popular among young people. We are very grateful to RNG. Its unwavering support and help are pillars of Yakutia’s chess community,” says Vladimir Yegorov, President of the Chess Federation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
