RNG’s specialists use modern geological exploration technologies to discover new hydrocarbon reserves. For the efficient organization of work, the company’s own seismic crew was set up.
In the oil and gas industry, seismic exploration is used both at the initial stage, when there are no exploration wells in the investigated area, and in well-studied fields for their deeper research. To date, there is no alternative to seismic exploration: this is the only method that allows to create spatial three-dimensional geological models of the environment.
Pavel Grechikho, Deputy CEO and Chief Geologist of RNG, noted: “There are few companies capable of carrying out high-quality seismic surveys in difficult climatic, aerographic, geological conditions of Eastern Siberia, and the cost of such works is steadily increasing. Therefore, at the end of 2018, it was decided to create our own seismic crew.”
The seismic crew created on the basis of Suldukar Geologorazvedka LLC includes 135 employees and is equipped with everything necessary for comfortable work. It is provided with modern workshops for servicing machinery and equipment and is ready to perform the assigned geological tasks at a high professional level in the amount of at least 500 km2 during the winter field season. The base of the party is provided with autonomous electricity due to two diesel power plants with a capacity of 250 kW each. Research carried out by specialists in the field season 2019–2020 at the Yuzhno-Syuldyukarsky license area has proven their effectiveness.
For conducting ground surveys, the latest 508XT telemetry system for seismic data registration and five NOMAD-65 seismic vibrating units in the latest modification of the French company Sercel are used. Seismic vibrating installations create vibrations that are recorded by the 508XT telemetry system. NOMAD 65 NEO broadband vibrators operate in a broadband range: they reach their full input capacity already from 5 Hz. Together, the vibrators and the registration system make it possible to create and record a broadband seismic signal, which significantly improves the image quality of the geological environment.
Due to climatic conditions, seismic exploration in Yakutia is carried out only in winter: in the summer season, heavy equipment cannot work in swampy areas. “Our employees come to the rotational camp in October and work until April. The seismic crew includes more than 40 units of tracked and wheeled vehicles. All specialist have received the necessary skills in training centers, both in France and in the Russian offices of Sercel,” emphasized Mikhail Markelov, head of the seismic exploration department of Syuldyukar Geologorazvedka LLC.
Companies of Eastsib Holding choose modern solutions: unlike explosive seismic exploration, vibration technologies are safe and do not require intervention in the subsoil.
