A promising gas condensate field was discovered within the Murbaisky license area in Lensky district of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Experts highly assess the potential of this section and the possibility of including the facility in the resource base of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. According to the data of the first operational estimate, the initial recoverable gas reserves at the new field are 27 billion cubic meters.
RNG acted as the exploration operator for the field; the license for the right to use subsoil within the site is owned by Murbay Geologorazvedka LLC, which, like the RNG group of companies, is part of EastSib Holding.
Sergey Nazarov Chief Geologist & Deputy CEO of RNG, stressed: “This is only the initial figure, the first steps. After drilling three more exploration wells and carrying out seismic surveys, we will receive updated reserves figure and we hope for a very significant increase in it.”
By decision of the RNG group of companies, the documents to assign the new field, the name of Ivan Menshikov, the former CEO of RNG, who passed away last summer, were sent to Rosnedra (The Federal Agency for Mineral Resources).
For his great personal contribution to the development of the fuel and energy complex, Ivan Menshikov was awarded the title of “Honored oil worker”, excellent worker in the exploration of mineral resources, and honored worker of the national economy of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Under his personal leadership, the Central and Eastern blocks, as well as the Kurungsky area of the Srednebotuobinskoye oil and gas condensate field, were developed.
Elena Korzun, CEO of the Association of Independent Oil and Gas Producing Organizations “AssoNeft”, noted: “Oilmen have a good tradition of naming fields after their discoverers. And Ivan Mikhailovich did a lot for the development of the mineral resource base of Yakutia. I applaud the team of the company for such a decision.”
The discovery of a new field will be a big step towards the further development of RNG, which this year was included in the list of backbone enterprises of the fuel and energy complex (FEC) compiled by the Ministry of Energy. The widespread introduction of modern technologies, competent management decisions and highly qualified work of specialists, allow obtaining the maximum effect in the development of the subsoil of East Siberia.
Aysen Nikolayev, Head of Yakutia, noted the achievements and contribution of the RNG group of companies to the socio-economic development in the region: “With the discovery of a new field, residents of Lensky district, will be able to obtain new jobs. Over the past few years, RNG has transformed from a small exploration company into a diversified oil group, which plans to actively develop the gas business. And I am deeply convinced that with such a modern approach to the organization of work and high social responsibility towards local residents, the company will certainly succeed.”
