Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Yakut branch of interregional public organization “Association of Polar Explorers” expressed gratitude to RNG for participation in publishing the book “Mammoths of the Russian Polar Region”. The Company was the general sponsor of this project.
The authors of the book were well-known scientists Yuri Burlakov and Alexey Tikhonov. The publication was presented by the authors in the presence of the Russian President’s Special Representative for International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov in December last year at the IX International Forum “Arctic: Present and Future”. The book was published by “Tsumori Press”.
For the first time, one book brings together various but interrelated fields of natural science – palaeogeography, archaeology and zoology. The authors describe iconic finds of the last thirty years with a breakdown by regions of the Russian Arctic. Scientists have visited all the Arctic archipelagoes and large islands, the mouths of the great Siberian rivers, the Kola Peninsula, the Bolshozemelskaya tundra, Yamal, Taimyr, northern Yakutia, and Chukotka. They took part in excavations and study of the most recent findings of mammoth fauna.
The book is designed for a wide range of readers, including local historians, university students, schoolchildren, members of polar clubs.
