The company’s own fire safety, civil defense and emergency service helps to eliminate and prevent wildfires.
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has the most difficult fire hazardous situation in the country this year. Since the beginning of summer, forests have been burning over the territory of six hundred thousand hectares, including the region of Western Yakutia, where the company operates. Dry and windy weather has contributed to the spread of the fire.
RNG JSC provides maximum assistance to the regional authorities in extinguishing forest fires. The company regularly deploys personnel and special equipment to assist combined firefighting teams.
During the fire-hazardous period, RNG JSC takes additional action to prevent emergencies. In particular, the company has strengthened monitoring of forest areas leased by the company, and thermal spots are promptly checked by using data from space monitoring and aerial overflights.
The activities carried out help to improve the safe operation of oilfield infrastructure, avoid potential accidents, reduce response time to emergencies and ensure reliable protection of production facilities and settlements.
During the field meeting on prevention and elimination of emergencies, held on 10 July 2021, in Mirny the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aysen Nikolayev noted that the group of specialized firefighting forces in the western part of the region coped with the tasks in time – not a single fire spread to residential areas.
